E-cigarettes have the potential to: increase the number of young adults exposed to nicotine; lead non-smokers to start smoking cigarettes and other tobacco products; sustain nicotine addiction to encourage continued use instead of quitting completely; and increase the likelihood that former smokers will become addicted to nicotine again while using e-cigarettes.
